That’s A Wrap!
March 31, 2008
Thank you to everyone who came to see Dean and Matt perform this weekend!
“Double Entendre” was a success. We sold out Friday night’s show. And Saturday night was a near-sell-out.
We enjoyed performing for you all!
We’ll update the blog when we perform again.
Meanwhile, both Dean and Matt — and several other cabaret singers — will perform a variety of standards and show tunes at the third CHAWbaret on April 18 & 19.
Cabaret Weekend + Tickets Going
March 24, 2008
“Return to Me”
Dean and Matt attended Katherine McCann’s premiere cabaret show this weekend, “Return To Me”, which was at the wonderfully intimate Playbill Cafe. The space was perfect for Kate’s show, which was very personal with an eclectic mix of songs. Katherine performed everything from Jerry Herman and Leonard Bernstein to Tori Amos and Trent Reznor, proving that cabaret shows can be as idiosyncratic as the person performing!
Congrats, Katherine!
“Double Entendre” … Our Show
Now … “Double Entendre” is only days away … Dean and Matt are rehearsing with Music Director Elisa Rosman. And director Judy Simmons is putting “the roses on the cake”, as she likes to make the analogy of cabaret and cake baking.
Tickets: Yes, we are accepting reservations for the show. Seating is GENERAL ADMISSION, but please let us know if you’re planning on coming.
Both nights have filled up past half-capacity, so we’re expecting full houses on the nights of the shows!
By the way, “Double Entendre” is being performed in a black box theater at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW). The theater is nice and intimate, seating approx. 55 people or so. And yes, the chairs are padded and comfortable!
Email Matt if you’d like to make a reservation: matthowe66@yahoo.com
Tell us (1) What date, (2) How many, (3) Your name. We’ll put your name on the reservation list and you can pay (cash only!) at the door that night. Seating is GENERAL ADMISSION, so make sure you get there early enough to park and procure the seat you prefer.
See you all there!! It’s gonna be great!!
Cameo in “Cabaret Scenes” Magazine
March 20, 2008
Cabaret Scenes
Dean and Matt appear in the latest issue of “Cabaret Scenes” magazine (March 2008). We’re listed under “Washington, D.C.” as one of the acts to catch in March.
Matt with “Cabaret Scenes” magazine
Katherine McCann
Our “cabaret friend” Katherine McCann’s show is also listed in March’s “Cabaret Scenes”. By the way, we hope you all take the opportunity to catch Katherine’s show this weekend at the Playbill Cafe. She’s sold out for Friday night (way to go, girl!), but still has tickets left for Saturday night.
Then, next weekend — as long as you’re on a “cabaret roll” — check out Dean & Matt at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. Our show, “Double Entendre” is TWO NIGHTS ONLY, March 28 & 29. We’re not sold out (yet), but Saturday night looks to be the busiest night so far, with the most reservations.
Karen Akers & Kander & Ebb
March 12, 2008
Dean and Matt attended cabaret singer Karen Akers’ opening night last evening at Signature Theatre. She sang a show dedicated to the songs of Kander & Ebb.
Dean and Matt are actually singing a few K&E songs in “Double Entendre”, so it was interesting to see what Ms. Akers did with them.
“Double Entendre”, meanwhile, is a little over 2 weeks away, and Matt & Dean are rehearsing and preparing for the 2 night run. Reservations are coming in, and so far it seems like Saturday night is going to be the most attended performance.
See you all there!
More Rehearsing
March 3, 2008

Matt (left) and Dean (right) spent the weekend rehearsing the show, “Double Entendre”.
For anyone who may have missed it, the D.C. Cabaret Network’s Board of Directors show at the Arts Club last night was fantastic.
