Matt Howe and Dean Reichard celebrated “March is Cabaret Month™” by performing their two-man cabaret show, “Double Entendre” at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (545 7th Street, S.E., Washington DC) on Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, both shows at 8:00 p.m. In the show, Dean and Matt are two friends singing their way through the twists and turns of love and life. Accompanied on piano by musical director Elisa Rosman, Matt and Dean launch into musical theater compositions by Irving Berlin, Maury Yeston, Stephen Schwartz, Kander & Ebb, and others.

MATT HOWE BIO

Matt Howe Matt Howe has appeared on the stages of Washington, D.C. as an actor since 1990. He wrote and performed his multi-character, one-man show, Inside Out, at Playbill Café. Most recently, Matt acted in The God of Hell with Didactic Theatre Company. Other acting roles include Kit Marlowe at Studio Theatre Secondstage, Boo Radley in To Kill A Mockingbird at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead at Studio Theatre, and The Grapes of Wrath at Washington Shakespeare Company. Matt understudied Studio’s successful run of Falsettoland for 19 weeks. He studied acting at Loyola Marymount University and the Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory. Matt studies voice with Dan Sticco and George Fulginiti-Shakar and is a member of the DC Cabaret Network. In his spare time, Matt is a photographer and has captured images of some local DC Cabaret Network members for promotional cards and CD covers. Matt is thrilled to be working with both Dean and Elisa.

DEAN REICHARD BIO

Dean Reichard Dean Reichard is thrilled to be performing with Mr. Howe! Previously, Dean has appeared at CHAW in six productions of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas (Iolanthe twice, The Mikado, Patience, DHS Pinafore, and The Gondoliers). In addition to these, Dean appeared in St Mark’s Players’ March 2006 production of Jesus Christ Superstar, and took George Fulginiti-Shakar and Judy Simmons’s cabaret class at The Theatre Lab in the summer of 2006. In 2007, Dean performed in the first two CHAWbarets, and in Side Show with the Elden Street Players in Herndon, VA. In January 2008, Dean attended The Boston Cabaret Intensive, a professional development workshop led by award winning New York cabaret artists Lina Koutrakos and Rick Jensen. Dean performed in the D.C. Cabaret Network Member Showcase in February. Amy Conley and Dean also taught a course in cabaret for adults at CHAW in February and March 2008. After Double Entendre, Dean is producing and performing in the third CHAWbaret on April 18 & 19, 2008.

ELISA ROSMAN (Musical Director) BIO

Elisa is currently music directing Urinetown for the Reston Community Players. She recently music directed A New Brain at the Foundry Players and Side Show at the Elden Street Players, where she also music directed Suburb. Other music directing gigs include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Honk!, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Mame, and Merrily We Roll Along (Reston Community Players), How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying (CAST), They’re Playing our Song and She Loves Me (Dominion Stage). Elisa also music directed two Broadway Lights the Night benefits. This wouldn’t be possible without the love and support of my wonderful family. And, as always, all the love and thanks in the world to Dan and my three beautiful babies who know more lyrics from obscure musicals than any children should!

JUDY SIMMONS (Director) BIO

Upcoming shows include Goodnight Moon, a co-production at Adventure Theatre and The Atlas Theatre this Spring and Sweeney Todd with Ganymedearts Theatre in the Fall. Judy recently performed her critically acclaimed solo cabaret, Sondheim Tonight!, at several venues, including Signature Theatre, Everyman Theatre, Prince Theatre, Theater Alliance and The Arts Club. She also was in Naked Cabaret: Emotionally, That Is! at the D.C. Fringe Festival and appeared as Hannah in Spitfire Grill at Theater Alliance. Other Cabaret shows include Cockeyed Optimist, Not In Kansas Anymore, Here And Now, Get Happy, The Eccentrics, What Were We Thinking? and Much More. She teaches at The Theatre Lab and has taught at American and Catholic Universities and is the Executive Director of The D.C. Cabaret Network.

CHAW BIO

The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) is located at 545 7th Street, S.E., Washington DC, 20003 (the corner of 7th and G Streets, SE).

The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop is a community-based not-for-profit organization whose mission statement is “Building community through the arts”. Located near Eastern Market Metro in S.E., the Workshop facility provides a dance studio (which doubles as a recital hall), paint studio, black box theater, art gallery, complete ceramics/pottery studio, a photography darkroom (the only open darkroom in D.C.), private music instruction studios and business offices. The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop offers a multi-disciplinary program of classes each semester for youth and adults. CHAW’s website is www.chaw.org.
